Wortley Artist

…developed a passion for drawing and painting at a very early age. From an attic bedroom window of his home in the local mining village of Hoyland Common, where he set up his first artist's studio, he could glimpse Wortley church over the rooftops a few miles away. His first display of paintings was in the shop window of his parents' old-style sweet shop.

After a few years of painting commissions, he became one of the country's leading mural artists and in increasing demand by interior designers and architects. This brought him into contact with royalty and the rich and famous. Not bad for a Yorkshire lad from Barnsley.

He has recently returned to his artistic roots; capturing the things around him with paintbrush and pen. He lives close to the village of Wortley with his wife Caroline in a beautifully converted cow-shed near to a working farm and his local golf course - where they are both members. He runs popular painting classes locally and is Artist in Residence at Wortley Hall.

On occasion, plays a melodic mandolin.
